How does the settling-in process work?

We tailor the settling-in period to each child's individual needs. We provide personal support and guidance to the family, working together to determine how much time and support is needed for a successful start.

Is it okay for my child to still wear diapers?

Yes, of course. Children are welcome to come to the Children's Culture House even if they're wearing diapers.

How often can my child visit the Children's Culture House?

Depending on your needs, one to seven half-days per week are possible. Together we'll determine which model best suits your child and your family's daily routine.

How does payment work?

Childcare fees are paid monthly and depend on the number of half-days booked. Lunch costs CHF 10 per meal, and a materials fee of CHF 300 is charged annually.

Can my child start during the school year?

Yes. Enrollment is possible at any time. You are welcome to drop by beforehand without obligation and get to know the Children's Culture House personally.

What are the hours for childcare?

Block hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with flexible arrival between 7:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, care is available until 5:00 p.m.

At the Children's Culture House, children aged 2-6 find a familiar place for their everyday lives. Childcare, playgroup, and kindergarten are integrated to create an environment where children feel comfortable, can orient themselves, and develop.

Reliable support throughout the day. For children aged 2–6 years who require regular or flexible care. The focus is on a familiar daily routine, shared meals, free play, physical activity, and personal attention.

Discovering together and experiencing first friendships. In a small group, the children gather their first experiences outside the family. They play, create, move around, listen to stories, and learn to find their place in the group.

Kindergarten

Learning through experience, play, and creation. The kindergarten combines personalized support with ample space for individual interests. Creativity, language, movement, nature, and collaborative learning emerge from everyday life and prepare children for the next step.

Reliable childcare that fits into everyday family life.

Block hours from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. including lunch. Care is available until 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Price structure

The children can come for one to seven half-days per week.

The monthly costs are:

Once a week: CHF 290 per month, approx. CHF 73 per half day
Twice a week: CHF 440 per month, approx. CHF 55 per half day
3 times per week: CHF 590 per month, approx. CHF 49 per half day
4 times per week: CHF 740 per month, approx. CHF 46 per half day
5 times per week: CHF 890 per month, approx. CHF 44 per half day
6 times per week: CHF 1040 per month, approx. CHF 43 per half day
7 times a week: CHF 1190 per month, approx. CHF 42 per half day
For the second child, there is a 20% reduction starting from the third year of life.

The fiscal year runs from August 1st to July 31st. The holiday schedule is identical to that of the public schools in Horw.

Lisa, Bruno, and Nadine personally accompany the children through their daily routines. Lisa is a trained kindergarten teacher and storyteller, and Nadine is a playgroup leader. This ensures that the caregivers remain familiar and the childcare is personal and manageable.
